The herbs in our store meet GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards, the highest quality Chinese herbs on the market. They are non-irradiated and free of heavy metals. European therapists, American and Australian Chinese medicine clinics and Chinese pharmacies all use GMP herbs.

What is the GMP standard?

The GMP standard corresponds to the practices required to comply with the guidelines recommended by the organizations that control the authorization and licensing of the manufacture and sale of food products, dietary supplements, medicines and active pharmaceutical products. These guidelines set out the requirements that a pharmaceutical product or a manufacturer of food products or dietary supplements must meet to ensure that products are of high quality and present no risk to the consumer.

The GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standard helps to ensure product quality and safety, ingredient traceability, and transparency throughout the manufacturing process (from harvesting to packaging). GMP certification means that the site and the methods used in production have undergone a thorough quality control survey by a government agency or qualified third-party organization, and are certified to be in compliance.

The GMP certification process covers all aspects of manufacturing, including building and site inspection, air and water purification systems, raw material treatment and processing, the product manufacturing process, equipment operation and cleaning, staff training, quality control testing (control of pesticides and other pollutants) and documentation. If herbs fail to meet these controls, they are rejected. Compliance with GMP guidelines ensures that every batch of product is safe and of the highest quality.

In a nutshell

International GMP standards are the most stringent standards for controlling the manufacturing processes of health products, from the production or harvesting of the constituent elements, right through to packaging.

Where do the herbs come from?

Our herbs come mainly from Anguo in Hebei province and Bozhou in Anhui province. The former is one of China’s largest centers for the production and marketing of Chinese herbs, while the latter is considered the capital of Chinese medicine.
