How to prepare this congee

Dosage: 1 bag per day (there are 3 bags in a pack).
If necessary, 2 bags per day (morning and evening).

One bag contains :

  • Rice
  • Pitted dried jujubes
  • Pitted dried longans
  • Whole cane sugar in a separate pouch

Congee is generally eaten for breakfast. All you have to do is :

  1. Pour the contents of a pouch of oatmeal (EXCEPT for the sugar) into a saucepan that is not made of cast iron or aluminum. A stainless-steel pan, for example.
  2. Pour in 600ml of bottled spring water or filtered water (pour in a little less water if you prefer a thicker porridge, or heat longer).
  3. Cover the pan and heat over high heat until the water boils.
  4. Then simmer for a minimum of 40 minutes (the porridge will continue to simmer). You can simmer for much longer if you find there’s too much water. The longer an oatmeal simmers, the better.
  5. When the porridge has finished heating, add the sugar and stir.
  6. Eat for breakfast.

To take in 2 portions, simply eat half in the morning and the other half at the end of the afternoon or in the evening, reheating it.

Important You can add chives to the oatmeal after cooking, to reinforce its action on blood circulation.
If you don’t want to add sugar to the oatmeal, you can use chives instead.
