Instructions for use and dosage
To take full advantage of its benefits, consume at least 15g per day of black sesame as a course of treatment. Avoid consuming large quantities all at once.
Black sesame seeds should preferably be dry-fried in a frying pan, as this not only helps to digest the seeds but also enhances their beneficial properties for the body.
To do this, place them in an oil-free (dry) frying pan and heat over low heat, stirring all the time with a wooden spatula. Do this until their fragrance is released.
The seeds can also be heated in the oven, by spreading them out on your oven’s baking tray, and stirring the seeds often.
Afterwards, black sesame seeds should be crushed or ground before consumption, in order to benefit from their virtues. Whole seeds are poorly digested.
They can be mixed with cereals such as rice, millet, quinoa, etc. in oatmeals, soups, dishes or pastries (in paste form).
Black sesame paste is made when the seeds are ground in a coffee grinder, then mixed with butter (or lard) and powdered sugar*.
Combinations:
– Black sesame can be combined with walnuts for early hair whitening, dry hair and scalp, damaged hair ends, and memory loss.
– For fatigue or nutritional deficiencies (without loose stools or sinusitis), black sesame can be combined with honey.
Contraindication :
Avoid consuming large quantities of black sesame at one time.
Black sesame is contraindicated for :
- People with loose stools or diarrhea
- People with kidney failure
- People who should not consume foods containing phosphorus.
Some people may be allergic to black sesame. If you are allergic to hazelnuts, walnuts, rye or kiwi, you may also be allergic to black sesame.
A word from David Brun
(Graduate of the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine)
Cooking black sesame enhances its action on the liver and kidneys.
Once cooked, black sesame can be eaten simply by crushing it and mixing it with a little whole cane sugar, or by mixing it with honey for a spread.
For those with a hot constitution, black sesame with spinach helps to calm menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, headaches and constipation.
