Here’s a DIY liniment for rheumatoid arthritis and joint pain/arthritis (for external application only). It’s the ideal complement to our Rheumatoid Arthritis wine, but can also be used on its own.
What you need to make this wine yourself :
- A rheumatoid arthritis sachet containing the 3 herbs you need to make this liniment.
- An airtight glass container. We recommend a large glass jar with a glass lid. The seal will help keep the container airtight. Avoid jars with iron screw-on lids.
- 1400ml grain alcohol such as vodka or sorghum or millet alcohol (called Bai Jiu in Chinese stores). An alcohol of 50-60 degrees is recommended, but between 30 and 40 degrees is sufficient. No pharmaceutical alcohols!
Preparation
- Open the sachet you bought from us and pour the ingredients into your glass jar (if necessary, cut the herbs into smaller pieces to facilitate extraction of the active ingredients).
- Pour in 1400ml of vodka, sorghum alcohol or millet alcohol
- Close the jar, having placed the seal on the lid beforehand
- Label your container (name and date of manufacture)
- Leave the ingredients to macerate in the alcohol for at least 7 days in a dark place, shaking the jar at least once a day (you can leave to macerate for longer if you wish, 14 days for example, as this will produce a more potent liniment).
Once maceration is complete
- The medicinal liquid can be filtered. Or you can leave the ingredients in, but not for longer than 3 months.
- If filtering, squeeze the herbs to recover as much substance as possible.
- You can decant the liniment into a bottle if you like.
- Always store the jar or bottle in a dark place.
Use
Once maceration is complete. Pour in around 100 ml of liniment and heat to around 50 degrees Celsius. Then soak a cotton pad in it and apply to the affected area for about 10 minutes each time. Three to five times a day.
Generally, good effects are seen over a week, and in the case of severe symptoms, over 15 days. Continue to apply for a week after symptoms are relieved.
External application only!
Contraindications
Do not apply to injured skin or wounds
