Who is this do-it-yourself wine intended for?
This do-it-yourself wine (called medicinal wine in Chinese medicine) is suitable for arthritis or other joint pains that move from one joint to another, hence the name “migratory”.
This type of disorder is due to the fact that the wind is the main culprit.
The main symptoms of arthritis/joint pain with wind predominance are (the most important are in bold):
- Headaches accompanied by an aversion to wind
- Headaches with a feeling of heaviness in the head
- Severe itching of the skin
- Runny nose
- Nasal congestion
- Mild cough
- Facial numbness
- Muscle stiffness
- Tickling in the throat
- Sudden onset of pain in all body joints
- Pain moving from one joint to another
What you need:
- A bag containing the flowers you need to make this wine.
- An airtight glass container. We recommend a glass jar with a glass lid. The gasket will help keep the container airtight. Avoid jars with iron screw-on lids.)
- 1500ml grain alcohol such as vodka or sorghum or millet alcohol (called Bai Jiu in Chinese stores). Alcohol between 30 and 40 degrees is sufficient. No pharmaceutical alcohols!
Preparation for making this wine:
- Place the entire sachet in a glass jar
- Pour in 1500ml of vodka, sorghum alcohol or millet alcohol.
- Close the jar, having placed the seal on the lid beforehand.
- Label your container (name and date of manufacture).
- Leave the flowers to macerate in the alcohol for at least 7 days in a dark place, shaking the jar at least once a day (you can leave to macerate for longer if you wish, 14 days for example, which will produce a more powerful wine).
Once maceration is complete, the medicinal liquid can be filtered, or you can leave the ingredients in.
- If filtering, squeeze the herbs to recover as much substance as possible.
- You can decant the wine into a bottle if you wish.
- Always store the jar or bottle in a dark place.
Use
After maceration. Oral use, no special dosage, drink as needed. From 30ml to 50ml each time.
For people who can’t tolerate alcohol, warm water can be added.
Effective for driving out the wind and moisture responsible for this type of arthralgia. Use for migratory joint pain, wind-type arthritis (see above for details) and hemiplegia.
Contraindications
- Pregnant women
- Breast-feeding
- Do not use in case of liver disease or alcohol intolerance.
