Vervain officinalis should not be confused with lemon verbena. Vervain officinalis is much more powerful and has a wide range of indications, and can also be used topically.
Indication for Verbena officinalis
Its action on the blood, both on blood circulation and on blood stasis, means that it is indicated for :
- joint pain
- rheumatism
- traumatic shock pain, with or without swelling
- bruises
- tumors
- myomas
- muscle pain
- dysmenorrhea
- amenorrhea
- painful menstruation
Verbena officinalis is also indicated for :
- digestive weakness
- stomach ache
- diarrhea
- stomach cramps and spasms

Vervain officinalis can also be used locally, i.e. directly on the skin externally. In this way, it is useful for :

Instructions for use and dosage of Verbena officinalis
Place 4g of vervain in a large mug, pour in 200ml of simmering spring water. Cover the mug and leave to infuse for 10 minutes. Do this 2 times a day.
Contraindication
Vervain officinalis is contraindicated in people taking :
- treatment with anticoagulants
- hepatic insufficiency
- blood pressure problems (both hypotension and hypertension)
- anemia
- gastrointestinal disorders
- neurological disorders
- pregnant or breast-feeding women
