Indications of the white mulberry leaf in Chinese medicine
In addition to being an excellent substitute for sugar, stevia leaf :
- Lowers blood sugar levels
- Reduces blood pressure
- During a diet
- To reduce sugar consumption for health reasons
- Less dental caries (because it is a natural fake sugar)
People with high blood pressure, low blood pressure or type 2 diabetes should check their blood pressure or glucose regularly and adjust their treatment accordingly, as the properties of the stevia leaf can add to the effects of your treatment.
Instructions for use and dosage
In addition to its very sweet taste, the stevia leaf has a very slight taste of licorice.
- It can be heated and can therefore be used whole in infusions (alone or associated with other herbs), in desserts or even in dishes. In infusion the dosage can vary from 3 to 10g.
- For desserts or dishes, powder the leaf and use it like sugar. The dry stevia leaf is very easy to grind. We can place it between our palms and rub it, or use another way to grind it.
Contraindication
Stevia leaf should be used sparingly by pregnant or nursing women.
Although there have been no cases reported so far, people who are allergic to daisies or chrysanthemums, i.e. plants of the Asteraceae family, could also be allergic to stevia leaf.
A word from David Brun
(Graduate of the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine)
Native to the tropical regions of South America and introduced fairly recently in Asia, cooked or mixed with acidic foods, the stevia leaf keeps its sweetening properties. It is an interesting herb for people with diabetes, those who are addicted to sugar and want to reduce their carbohydrate intake or who simply want to do without.
In the latter cases, it will be preferable to use the stevia leaf to get rid of the taste of sugar little by little.
