Indication for Chinese yam
– For digestive problems:
- Lack of appetite
- Fatigue
- Diarrhea
– Lung problems :
- Chronic cough
- Wheezing cough
– Urogenital problems :
- Spermatorrhea
- Vaginal discharge
- Frequent urination
– Chronic nephritis
Instructions for use and dosage
Decoction:
Rinse herbs in cold water, place 10-15g of Chinese yam in a glass, stainless steel or earthenware container. Pour in 250ml spring or filtered water. Cover and heat over high heat until boiling, then simmer for 20 minutes. Drink the liquid and eat the yam pieces.
It can also be added to dishes, soups or porridge.
Combinations:
– Chinese yam can be combined with Dang Shen for fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite and loose stools. But also coughs with fine sputum.
Contraindication :
Chinese yam is contraindicated for people with difficulty in urinating, urinary tract infections and constipation.

Chinese yam is a medicinal food, so it can be eaten in cooked dishes, soups, gruels or decoctions.
Chinese yam does not interfere with digestion, but tones the spleen-stomach pairing. Its mild astringent action stops diarrhea, calms frequent urination and protects the Essence (Jing) of the kidneys.
