Instructions for use and dosage
Job’s tears are a cereal that can be cooked, although when used for their virtues they are best prepared as porridge or decoction.
To improve digestion, soothe diarrhea and relieve rheumatism, it’s best to dry-fry Job’s tears before preparing them.
To do this, place them in an oil-free (dry) frying pan and heat over low to medium heat, stirring all the time with a wooden spatula. Do this until the seeds change color slightly.
For other indications, the seeds can be prepared directly, without sautéing them first.
As a congee/soup:
60g per day.
Place 60g of job’s tears in 550ml of spring water (bottled water) in a stainless steel, glass or terracotta (not iron or cast iron) container.
Place the lid on the pot and turn on high heat until boiling. Once the water boils, turn down the heat to simmer for 40 minutes on a gas stove, or 50 minutes to 1 hour on an electric hob.
Eat in 2 batches.
As a decoction:
1) Place 60g Job’s tear in a glass, stainless steel or earthenware container.
2) Add 350ml cold water (spring or filtered).
3) Let them soak in the water for 20 to 30 minutes.
4) Heat the pot (with the same water) over high heat until boiling. As soon as the water is boiling, turn down the heat and simmer for 25 minutes.
Drink hot in 2 batches (morning and afternoon).
As an infusion
Job’s tears can be used as an infusion throughout the day for urination difficulties, edema and to calm nerves.
Combinations :
- Job’s tears can be combined with azuki beans and fuling mushroom for water retention and cellulite.
- With rice to make porridge, 2 to 3 times a day, ideal for people with a family history of cancer as this porridge has anti-cancer properties.
- With Atractyl Rhizome to fight more actively against poor digestion, edema and chronic diarrhoea.
Contraindication :
– Do not consume in cases of constipation, spermatorrhea or polyuria.
– Do not use if pregnant
A word from David Brun
(Graduate of the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine)
Yi Yi Ren improves poor digestion with diarrhea, but is most effective when combined with Fuling mushroom, which has greater toning properties to do this. With this combination, its edema drainage/water retention action is also reinforced.
