Indication for oroxyli indici seeds
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Inflamed throat
- Hoarseness
Pharyngitis - Bronchitis
- Stomach ache due to emotional instability
- Suppurated wounds/ulcers on the skin when applied locally (promotes tissue regeneration)
Instructions for use and dosage
Infusion:
Place 5g of dried oroxyli indici seeds in a large mug and fill to 90% with simmering spring water (approx. 250ml). Cover the mug and leave to infuse for 10 minutes.
External application:
Dried oroxyli indici seeds can be applied locally to skin ulcers. Use either the whole seeds, or reduce them to a powder (1.5g to 3g).
Combinations
Dried oroxyli indici seeds can be combined with Scaphiglotte fruit and Jin Sang Zi tea to combat coughs, bronchitis, pharyngitis, throat irritation, hoarseness or loss of voice.
Contraindication
– Use sparingly for people with frequent cold limbs.
– Avoid if you are allergic to plants in general.

Dried oroxyli indici seeds (Mu Hu Die; 木蝴蝶) and Scaphiglotte fruit (Pang Da Hai; 胖大海) are among the best herbs for recovering one’s voice after an extinction.
They can be taken as an infusion during the day for those who, for example, need to speak or sing for several hours at a time.
